The 1958 Topps baseball card set is notoriously difficult to collect after years of input to Baseball Card Advisors. This set is plagued by miscuts and poor centering throughout. Like the 1959 Topps set, we are starting to think there might have been a little something extra in the cutter’s coffee..HA! This set has the superstars that make it collectable, however only has a couple of big rookie cards: #47-Roger Maris, and #343-Orlando Cepeda. The set does boast a long list of future Hall of Famers including: #1-Ted Williams, #5-Willie Mays, #30-Hank Aaron, #150-Mickey Mantle, #52-Roberto Clemente, #187-Sandy Koufax, #370-Yogi Berra, #487-Mickey Mantle All-Star, and #-310-Ernie Banks. One interesting part of this set is carries several variations (error) cards that are collectable to many. There are several “yellow letter” examples command a premium over regularly issued cards.
