Oxford Confectionery Baseball Card Set (E253)

The 1921 Oxford Confectionery (E253) Baseball Cards were produced in Oxford, Pa and consists of 20 cards. Oxford, PA was well know for it’s confectionery and candy business located directly on the Philadelphia and Baltimore Central Railroad (P&BC) laid during the 1850s. The size of the cards are 1-5/8 x 2-3/4 with some minor variations for imperfect cutting. The cards are a very simple black and white color with their name and team they played for on the bottom border in white like many other caramel cards. The back of the cards have a checklist with the name of the player and the team they played for. The paper stock is incredibly thin and is quite susceptible to counterfeits.

14 of the 20 players from this set are in the Hall of Fame so it is a great set for high end players. These cards were originally found to be sold with a stick of caramel. Look for your favorite players of Ty Cobb, Babe Ruth, and Walter Johnson. 1921 was also the year the New York Giants with Casey Stengel won the World Series. A little know fact was that Hall of Famer Christy Mathewson was a manager for the Giants at 40 years old during this World Series.

We Love Oxford Confectionery Cards

Even though it isn’t a really popular set, we have enjoyed these cards over the years as there seems to be an ample amount of them in very good condition. If you have any Oxford’s you need more information on, any you would like to sell, or just want to send us a few scans; please contact us!
