Anonymous Set of 30 Caramel Baseball Cards

The Anonymous Caramel Baseball Cards (E98) are a 30 card set produced by an unknown manufacturer. The cards are similar to many of the other caramel baseball card issues of the era. Their are 30 cards in the set and the cards measure “1-1/2 x 2-3/4”.

The Anonymous Set of 30 Baseball Cards (E98) set has always been a very popular set as it contains the who’s-who of players. The interesting part about the set is that each card has multiple different background colors. The colors include Orange (which seems to be found the most), Green, Blue, and Red. You will find just about every Hall of Famer in this set to include: Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Christy Mathewson, Napolean Lajoie, Joe Tinker, and Cy Young to name a few. These cards are readily available but they are very expensive in high grade.

The Black Swamp Find of Anonymous Caramel Baseball Cards

The popularity of this set exploded in this set in 1912 when 100’s of these cards were found near Ohio in untouched condition. A family found them in the attic and it was later confirmed the grandfather had owned a meat market where it is believe either these were from a salesman sample or were given away from someone at the Defiance Candy Company.
