1961 Topps Baseball Cards Set

The 1961 Baseball Card Set has a lot of exciting cards and series. Coming off a year of cards that were reasonably easy to acquire Topps added in a final series of cards that are difficult to find.

Difficult High Number Series

The 1961 Topps Baseball Cards Set printed a “high number” series from cards 523-587. These cards were issued at the end of the season. Many of the stores that carried baseball cards already had stock and didn’t want to order more cards as the season was ready to end. For this reason, many of the cards were never distributed making this high series quite valuable. Add in the fact that the run of All Star cards are in this series and you have a pretty good valued set if complete.

The 1961 set is not all that difficult to complete (other than the high numbers) for the simple reason there a very rookie cards. The most well known rookie card from the set is the Juan Marichal. Add in the Mickey Mantle # 300 and the Roger Maris # 2 card and you are off to the races completing this 587 card set.
